Ok, I think is time to get a little serious about this blog thing. My life has been a little complicated lately with my professional work daily routine taken to much of my time. I have also bought a cruiser sailboat when moved to South Florida to fulfill a long term dream, that recently has dissipated (yep, too sad to say but true), which have been taken too much of my weekends in projects, just to keep the boat afloat! I am a realistic, quantitative, and sincere person, that have no problem with shifts in live, although some of them sometimes hit you really hard.
Is not easy to give up on a long term dream, specially one that you have had since high school, I am 56 now. However, at 56, although still a dreamer, I tend to see clear what the future my hold for you in any situation. What is funny, and what made me realized that maybe my dream of sailing thru the Caribbean on a Island Packet 31 (IP31, a dream boat cruiser for some, including me), was not up to my standards was when the AC unit of the boat broke recently. The AC of my IP31 was one of the futures of great weight when I bought the boat, however it can only be use when you are connected to power in a Marina. Sailing through, and mooring in beautiful places of the Caribbean islands will not support AC use, you will need to be docked and hooked to power on fancy marinas in the Caribbean (mostly all marinas are expensive in the Caribbean, specially if you will be hooked to power), and that it is expensive. When the AC broke during summer, I started to realized that over 100 degrees temperatures (Fahrenheit) and 80 to 90 percent of humidity, will not make my dream of sailing the Caribbean as beautiful as I thought. Also, the mechanics, I am not too good with this skill, adding another concern to the situation, and finally, the icing on the cake, the perks of hiding during the hurricane season made me realized that probably sailing the Caribbean was not as glamorous as I thought. At my age, I’ll be better of finding cruiser sailboat packages and enjoy sailing better this way. This way I can keep it enjoyable, and I can keep all the guilty pleasures I have worked so hard to have at my age.
So, from now on, lets give it a second chance to Blogging, traveling, camping, photographing, sailing with commodities, and enjoying life to the fullest.
